Centenary
On October 15, 2021, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of Suyunbay Eraliev.
S.Eraliev is a poet of the great internal culture and intellectual depth. In all his poetry lies the imprint of intense work of thought and emotional sophistication. The world is reflected in all its complexity and splendor of his imaginary vision of the poet. The innovative style he introduced to the Kyrgyz poetry, his talent, the non-vanity of the worldview, and the deep roots of the moral concept of the world, man, time, and motherland land allowed him to become a forerunner of the national poetry.
His poetry books «San Toolor» (”The Number of Mountains), «Kyrgyz Zhany» (“The Kyrgyz Soul”), «Aiyl yrlary» (“Village Songs”), «Kyshtak Kechteri» (“The Country Nights”), «Kyzgylt Bagymdat» (“The Pink Dawn”) are widely known to the Kyrgyz reader. The poem «Ak-Moor» written in 1958, brought Eraliev fame, popularity and became a true masterpiece of the Kyrgyz literature. Another poem “To the Stars”, published in 1964, was recognized as a truly innovative phenomenon in the national poetry. It is a poetic reflection on the meaning of man’s conquest of the cosmos, on the power of the human mind and the joy of man mastering the mysteries of nature. The novelty of the genre and the pressing issues of life depicted in the poem, still fascinates the readers. Thanks to S. Eraliev “vers libre” became an integral part of the Kyrgyz literature.
In the seventies he wrote some lyrical poems dedication to the World War II, «Songs of Memory», «The Road», «The Koshoy Land» and «The Last Will and Testament of Janyl-Myrza”. Special attention deserves the poem «Kesirinsan» – a large philosophical and journalistic masterpiece about life, about man and about time.
S.Eraliev leaves behind a truly rich spiritual heritage to the new generation of Kyrgyz readers.
